Larry ThompsonLarry L. Thompson is the managing partner of Thompson, Rosenthal & Watts, LLP. Since 1998, he has concentrated his practice in general litigation and family law matters. From 1977 to 1989 and from 1990 to 1998, Mr. Thompson was an associate and then partner (1983) with the prominent Chicago law firm of Bell, Boyd & Lloyd, handling a wide variety of commercial litigation for large and small corporate clients, local government entities and individuals. His experience in numerous federal and state trial and appellate courts has included contract litigation, unfair competition and trade secrets, construction disputes, employment discrimination, insurance coverage issues and other matters.

During 1989 and 1990, Mr. Thompson was a member of the Bush Administration, appointed by the United States Secretary of Transportation to serve as Chief Counsel of the Federal Highway Administration. At FHWA, he supervised a nationwide staff of 50 attorneys covering contracts and grants, environmental litigation, and regulatory enforcement, as well as providing legal and policy advice in coordination with the Department of Transportation and other federal agencies.

Mr. Thompson received his law degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, and he is a member of the Illinois bar and the federal bars for the Northern and Central District of Illinois and the Second and Seventh Circuit Courts of Appeals. He resides in Naperville, Illinois.
