Ari J. Rosenthal
Ari J. Rosenthal, a partner with Thompson, Rosenthal & Watts, LLP, focuses his practice in commercial and real estate related litigation.
Before joining Thompson, Rosenthal & Watts, LLP, Ari was a partner with the prominent Chicago law firm of Bell, Boyd and Lloyd and, prior to his association with Bell, Boyd and Lloyd, he served as in-house counsel for Chicago Title Insurance Company, the nation’s largest title insurer. His experience includes litigation of real estate related matters such as, construction defects, commercial and mechanic’s lien foreclosures, leasehold disputes, broker’s liens, lender liability and title insurance issues, as well as general business litigation involving issues of fraud, tortious interference, non-compete agreements, corporate dissolution/shareholder remedies, professional liability and insurance coverage and contract disputes. He has represented a broad range of clients, including Fortune 500, banking, finance and insurance companies, and start-up companies as well as counseled numerous artists and companies on entertainment and intellectual property issues.
Ari is a member of the Illinois Bar and the Trial bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, as well as the United States Supreme Court. In addition, he has been admitted pro hac vice to appear in the states of Arizona, Connecticut, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana.
Ari is a frequent lecturer on the enforcement and litigation of mechanic’s liens and construction disputes, having previously served as chairman of the Chicago Bar Association’s Real Estate Litigation Subcommittee. He received his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law and his undergraduate degree with honors from Illinois Wesleyan University.
