At Thompson, Rosenthal & Watts, LLP, we handle landlord/tenant disputes including both eviction actions as well as attempting to resolve problems before they end up in court.
If you are a landlord, you need to be aware that in Illinois the law relating to evictions can be very technical. Thus, if you believe that you are going to have to evict a tenant through the court process, we recommend that you contact us as early in the process as possible. This helps ensure that you comply with the requirements imposed by law and usually results in a faster, more streamlined eviction process.
If you are contacting us about a possible eviction, please gather the following documents and information:
- The lease
- A statement of the sums owed by the tenant
- Any notices that you have served on the tenant
- Any correspondence between you and the tenant
However, do not send any of these documents to us until after you talk to one of our attorneys on the telephone. Please see here to understand why.
If you think you may need assistance to resolve a landlord/tenant dispute, do not hesitate to contact us. You can reach us via telephone at 630-369-3535.
